Kitchen Tip Tuesday- freezing lemon & lime juice

I bought some lemon and limes that were on manger's special 5/$1 with the intention of using them in some baked goods like pies or muffins.

I did not. Mostly because I think my booty does not need a pie or a muffin... this week.

Instead I researched online to see another way to store them and found out that "lemon and lime juice freeze beautifully"

To freeze:
Juice the lemons and limes, separately and put the juice in ice cube trays. Then if you are feeling adventurous zest the fruits and sprinkled the zest into the juice. After freezing, put the cubes into a freezer bag and squeezed out all of the air.

Two cubes is equivalent to about the juice of one small fruit.

What a great idea! I'm thinking the cubes would also be helpful to have on hand for coating the apples and avocados so they don't turn brown. I never seem to have fresh citrus when I need it.

I never thought to freeze the juice. This would be a great idea for when I only need the zest for something. Thanks for the tip!

Oh, the zesting is a great idea. I usually just dump the peel in my mulch pit...
